Basketball Recap: Heide Trask Comes Up Short

Heide Trask easily dispatched Richlands last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Heide Trask Titans fell just short of the Whiteville Wolfpack by a score of 60-57 on Thursday. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolfpack apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Despite the defeat, Heide Trask saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Gio Driggers dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards. With that strong performance, Driggers is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Matthias Sonne was another key player, putting up 13 points and five rebounds.

Heide Trask's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Whiteville, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Heide Trask will be taking part in a tournament against Wallace-Rose Hill at 7:00 p.m. on December 27th. Heide Trask has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 206 points over their last three matches. As for Whiteville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-46 defeat against West Brunswick on the 26th.
