Volleyball Recap: Tuesday's Loss Ends Carson's Winning Streak

If Carson was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Salisbury last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cougars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the East Rowan Mustangs on Tuesday. The Cougars' defeat signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Carson was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made East Rowan work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-19, 13-25, 25-19.

Reese Joyner paced Carson's offense, picking up 27 kills. Joyner got some help from Rylee Hedrick and her 33 assists. Alana Herring controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Carson's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 17-3. As for East Rowan, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-9.

Carson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against West Rowan on the 25th. As for East Rowan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Northwest Cabarrus on the 25th.
