Preview: Baldwin Bulldogs vs. Tonganoxie Chieftains

The Baldwin Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Tonganoxie Chieftains at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Baldwin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six on Friday.

Baldwin stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Royal Valley 69-28 at home. Given Baldwin's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while Royal Valley is ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cooper Carr was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Talan Torrez, who scored 19 points.

Meanwhile, Tonganoxie didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Spring Hill on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 50-45 win.

Baldwin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Tonganoxie, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.

Baldwin was able to grind out a solid win over Tonganoxie when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 76-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Baldwin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
