Recap: Marquette Mustangs vs. New Madrid County Central Eagles
The Marquette Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell to New Madrid County Central 58-52. While losing is never fun, Marquette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while New Madrid County Central is ranked third).
Jadis Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for New Madrid County Central, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Jones has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. BJ Williamson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five steals.
Marquette dropped their record down to 7-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for New Madrid County Central, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.
Marquette will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Park Hill on January 26th. Park Hill knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Marquette likes a good challenge. As for New Madrid County Central, they will be playing at home against Logan-Rogersville on Friday.
