Basketball Game Preview: Union City Soaring Eagles vs. Montclair Mounties

The Union City Soaring Eagles will take on the Montclair Mounties on Thursday. Union City is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Last Thursday, Union City lost to Scotch Plains-Fanwood on the road by a 58-43 margin. While losing is never fun, the Soaring Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Raiders are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, Montclair strolled past Roselle with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 68-54. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mounties.

The win got Montclair back to even at 11-11. As for Union City, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Union City took their victory against Montclair when the teams last played back in February of 2019 by a conclusive 82-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Union City since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
