Soccer Game Preview: Green River vs. Kelly Walsh

Green River hasn't had much luck against Kelly Walsh recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Wolves will welcome the Trojans at 10:00 a.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Thursday, Green River needed a bit of extra time to put away Natrona County. They had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 5-4. Isa Vasco was a massive factor in the win as she booted in four goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Kelly Walsh faced Evanston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Trojans' defense stepped up to hand the Devils a 9-0 shutout. Considering Kelly Walsh have won six contests by more than two goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The victory (which was Kelly Walsh's third in a row) raised their record to 8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 21 goals over those three games. As for Green River, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-5-1.

Green River suffered a grim 8-4 defeat to Kelly Walsh in their previous matchup two weeks ago. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Wolves were down 6-1.
