Soccer Game Preview: Newberry vs. Silver Bluff

Newberry will square off against Silver Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Newberry sitting on four straight victories and Silver Bluff on three.

While Newberry's win against Mid-Carolina wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs' defense stepped up to hand the Rebels a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday. That's two games straight that Newberry have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Silver Bluff). They put the hurt on Ridge Spring-Monetta with a sharp 6-0 victory on Tuesday. Give Silver Bluff's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Newberry's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three contests. As for Silver Bluff, their win bumped their record up to 6-3-1.

Newberry took their victory against Silver Bluff when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 4-1 score. Will Newberry repeat their success, or does Silver Bluff has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
