Basketball Recap: Camas County Mushers vs. Carey Panthers
Camas County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 49-31 fall against the Carey Panthers. The Mushers were down 47-25 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Camas County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Quinn Palan went 8 for 14 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 54.8% of Camas County's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points.
It was another big night for Preston Wood, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 17 points in addition to six assists and five steals for Carey. The contest was Wood's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stockton Sears, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 14 points.
Camas County now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Carey, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Camas County will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Glenns Ferry at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. As for Carey, they will take on Garden Valley in a tournament on December 28th.
