Basketball Game Preview: Mapleton Mounties vs. Independence Blue Devils

The Mapleton Mounties will be taking part in a tournament against the Independence Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Independence took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Mapleton, who comes in off a win.

Mapleton is returning to their home court after beating Monroeville on theirs, despite the fact Monroeville has dominated at home this season. Mapleton managed a 45-40 victory over Monroeville on Friday. The Mounties haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Independence came up short against Cornerstone Christian on Thursday and fell 52-40. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 497th, while the Patriots are ranked 237th).

Independence has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Mapleton, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.
