            Softball Recap: Athens Wildcats vs. Jersey Shore Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            With a playoff win on the line, Athens rose to the challenge  on Saturday. They never let the Jersey Shore Bulldogs get on the board and left with  a   2-0  win. The  victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on six straight.

 Gretchan Hiley made a splash while hitting and pitching. She  didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  tossed less than eight  strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-3 with one  run and one  double.
 Hiley wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Memphis Paul, who  went 2-for-3 with one  stolen base.
Athens' win bumped their record up to 20-1. As for Jersey Shore,  they are  on  a  four-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 8-8.
As of now, neither Athens nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
