Football Game Preview: Mt. Carmel Golden Aces vs. Casey-Westfield Warriors

The Mt. Carmel Golden Aces will take on the Casey-Westfield Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Mt. Carmel is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Richland County just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 42-26 bruising from the Tigers.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in River Deisher and Gavyn Cothern. Cothern had a solid game and rushed for 25 yards and a pair of TDs. Meanwhile, Deisher was balling out in the loss, rushing for 123 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 74 yards and one TD.

Meanwhile, Casey-Westfield strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They took down Marshall 50-34. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Lions are ranked 229th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Casey-Westfield's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Mt. Carmel, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.

Mt. Carmel was taken down by Casey-Westfield 50-14 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Golden Aces were down 31-6.
