Bluefield and Wyoming East are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Beavers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Bluefield will be strutting in after a victory while Wyoming East will be coming in after a defeat.

Bluefield is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 10-6 win over Princeton on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Beavers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Maddie Lawson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Olivia White was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Taylor Mabry was another key player, scoring a run while going 4-for-5.

White wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Bluefield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Wyoming East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 16-1 to Chapmanville Regional.

Wyoming East's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Bluefield, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Wyoming East's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bluefield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. It's a different story for Wyoming East, though, as they've only averaged .204. Will they be able to contain Bluefield's hitters?

Everything went Bluefield's way against Wyoming East in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Bluefield made off with a 12-2 victory. Will the Beavers repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
