Softball Recap: Liberty Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Liberty won against David Douglas on Wednesday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Falcons blew past the Parkrose Broncos 15-8. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Kylie Allen looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rylee Mathews, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Sadie Caldwell was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory (which was Liberty's third in a row) raised their record to 4-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Parkrose, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coincidentally, Liberty and Parkrose will both be playing Reynolds the next time they take the field. The Broncos will host the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Falcons will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
