Baseball Game Preview: Littlefield Wildcats vs. Denver City Mustangs

Littlefield hasn't had much luck against Denver City recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Wildcats will challenge the Mustangs. Littlefield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Denver City's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Littlefield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Everything went their way against Dalhart as they made off with a 12-2 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Denver City entered their tilt with Kermit on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Yellow Jackets a 5-0 shutout. The Mustangs' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.

Kermit's batters probably weren't too happy with Jacen Ya?ez, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up zero walks).

On the hitting side, Denver City saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samrey Garcia, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Littlefield is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Denver City, their win bumped their record up to 18-6.

Littlefield suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Denver City in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
