Baseball Game Preview: Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles vs. Ridgecroft Rams

The Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Ridgecroft Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Cape Fear Christian Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Kerr-Vance Academy on Thursday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 12-2. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Cape Fear Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Mclamb, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Ridgecroft hadn't done well against Pungo Christian Academy recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Ridgecroft came out on top against Pungo Christian Academy by a score of 6-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.

Dawson Collins made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Ridgecroft is undefeated when Collins posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-3 otherwise.

Ridgecroft's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cape Fear Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Cape Fear Christian Academy took their win against Ridgecroft when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cape Fear Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
