Baseball Recap: Notre Dame Comes Up Short

Notre Dame lost against Amity Regional back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Green Knights fell 4-1 to the Spartans. The Green Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gehrig Footit was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Notre Dame is 2-1 when Footit allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Alex Riga made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Notre Dame now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Amity Regional, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame will take on Guilford at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Amity Regional, they will face off against Greenwich at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
