Basketball Recap: Decatur Extends Winning Streak to Four

Decatur posted their biggest victory since December 12, 2023 on Friday. Everything went their way against the Lakeside Vikings as the Decatur Bulldogs made off with a 51-27 win. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Vikings are ranked 445th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bryce Howson was a one-man wrecking crew for Decatur as he went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Quintavious Strozier, who posted eight points.

Decatur was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside only posted three assists.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Solomon Raggs, who had six points. Another player making a difference was Kareem Hopkins, who put up nine points.

The victory (which was Decatur's fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Lakeside, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Decatur didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-57 win against Arabia Mountain on the 17th. As for Lakeside, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 63-49 defeat against Chapel Hill on the 14th.
