Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ronald Wilder Jr. and Darryl White Jr Lead Greene County to Victory

Greene County hadn't done well against Aliceville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Greene County Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-32 victory over the Aliceville Yellowjackets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since December 6, 2024.

Greene County was led to victory by Darryl White Jr and Ronald Wilder Jr.. White Jr dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 assists, while Wilder Jr. almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Wilder Jr. is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Ja'Ron Lavender was another key player, putting up two points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

Greene County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 20 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

The victory got Greene County back to even at 10-10. As for Aliceville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greene County will take on Demopolis at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Greene County is facing Demopolis at the right time seeing as Demopolis is stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
