Basketball Game Preview: Frankford Pioneers vs. Paul Robeson Huskies

The Frankford Pioneers will venture away from home to challenge the Paul Robeson Huskies at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Tuesday, Frankford came up short against John Bartram and fell 56-48. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Frankford got top-tier performance from Doron Ross, who went 9 of 21 en route to 25 points and five rebounds. Those 25 points gave Ross a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Hernandez, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, Paul Robeson was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 47-46 to Benjamin Franklin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Huskies came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Electrons are ranked 528th).

Paul Robeson's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 11-4. As for Frankford, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Frankford didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Paul Robeson in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 41-37 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Paul Robeson's Sharif Bradley, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for Frankford to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
