Football Recap: Clinton Takes a Loss

If Clinton was riding high fresh off their 53-15 takedown of Campbell County last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dragons had to suffer through a 56-21 loss at the hands of the West Rebels. The Dragons have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Clinton lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Austyn Phillips, who picked up 95 receiving yards and one TD. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 69 yards. Clinton also got help from Bryson Maddox, who showed off his sure hands for 113 receiving yards.

Clinton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for West, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Clinton and West will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Dragons see the field they'll take on South-Doyle at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for West, their break will end when they face William Blount at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
