Volleyball Recap: Blackman Blaze vs. Brentwood Bruins

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Blackman couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Brentwood Bruins on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Blaze haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Molly Teague paced Blackman's offense, picking up 13 kills. Teague got some help from Jordan Krise and her 28 assists. Annabelle Grissom controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Brentwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lindsey Large, who had 16 assists and seven digs. That's the most digs Large has posted since back in September. The team also got some help courtesy of Queen Howse, who had five digs and two aces.

Blackman's loss dropped their record down to 23-7. As for Brentwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-5 record this season.

Blackman has already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Clarksville on the 23rd. As for Brentwood, they will face off against Summit at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
