Softball Game Preview: Mapleton Mounties vs. LaBrae Vikings

Mapleton has won 12 straight games at home, while LaBrae has won 12 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Mounties will host the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Mapleton 2.2, LaBrae 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Friday, Mapleton made easy work of South Central and carried off a 13-1 win. The Mounties might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but LaBrae ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Hubbard by a score of 9-6.

Leah DeArmitt made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over eight innings while giving up six earned runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Riley Rowe was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted four or more hits the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Michael, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

LaBrae was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. They are 16-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mapleton's victory bumped their record up to 22-3. As for LaBrae, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
