Cedar is 0-10 against Snow Canyon since March of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Reds will venture away from home to challenge the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Cedar has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cedar is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Desert Hills, falling 15-4.
Cedar saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Krew Giles, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Snow Canyon faced Crimson Cliffs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 3-2.
Andrew Lyon made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Lyon was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double.
In other pitching news, PJ Hancock looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
Snow Canyon pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Cedar, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Cedar hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Snow Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Cedar might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Snow Canyon when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Reds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
