Softball Recap: Monterey Wins Going Away Against York Institute

Monterey got themselves on the board against York Institute on Tuesday, but York Institute never followed suit. Everything went their way against the York Institute Dragons as they made off with an 11-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won seven in a row.

Alexandrea Novak was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Haylee Garthwait and Haylee Trevathan did most of the damage at the plate: Garthwait scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Trevathan scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Trevathan also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.

The win got Monterey back to even at 3-3-1.

Coming up, Monterey will challenge Greenback at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for York Institute, they are taking a road trip to face off against Jackson County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
