Baseball Recap: Lawrence Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lawrence and Shawnee Mission South meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Lions fell 6-3 to the Raiders. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Lawrence has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Shawnee Mission South, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6-2.

Coming up, Lawrence will head out to square off against Washburn Rural at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Shawnee Mission South has already played their next game (against Shawnee Mission North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
