Baseball Recap: Marquand-Zion Takes a Loss

Marquand-Zion has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.05 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They came up short against the Valle Catholic Warriors, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Tigers have suffered since March 21st.

Marquand-Zion has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-6 record this season. As for Valle Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marquand-Zion will challenge DeSoto at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3, the Dragons 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Valle Catholic, they will square off against North County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
