Baseball Recap: Hazelwood Central Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

While Hazelwood Central's win against McCluer North wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks skirted past the Stars 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted against the Stars since May 13, 2021.

Daveion Edwards and Jace Dickson did most of the damage at the plate: Edwards went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases and two runs, while Dickson got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Dickson is becoming a predictor of Hazelwood Central's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). Morgan Wilbret was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Hazelwood Central is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for McCluer North, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-13.
