Softball Recap: St. Patrick Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but St. Patrick ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Poplarville Hornets, sneaking past 6-5. This was payback for the Fighting Irish, who suffered a 6-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Peyton Parks spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks.

On the hitting side, Addyson Duprey was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Mackenzye Stapp was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

St. Patrick pushed their record up to 14-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Poplarville, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9-1.

Looking ahead, St. Patrick will be playing at home against Kemper County at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Poplarville, they will head out on the road to take on Sumrall at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight.
