Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sparta). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mauston Golden Eagles a 20-0 shutout on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Sparta's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-11. As for Mauston, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparta will host Nekoosa at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Mauston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Roncalli at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Jets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.82 runs per game on average), something the Golden Eagles will no doubt try to take advantage of.
