Baseball Recap: Newark Victorious

Newark proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Midlakes Screaming Eagles 11-10. This was payback for the Reds, who suffered a 13-10 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Jayce Baker and Cody Forjone did most of the damage at the plate: Baker went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Forjone got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Newark is undefeated when Forjone posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cameron Cruz, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.

Newark's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Midlakes, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
