Baseball Game Preview: Martins Ferry Purple Riders vs. Indian Creek Redskins

For the second straight game, Martins Ferry will face off against Indian Creek. The Purple Riders will square off against the Redskins at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Martins Ferry's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Wednesday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Martins Ferry fell victim to Indian Creek and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Redskins.

For Indian Creek's part, not much got past Sylus Hyde, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Martins Ferry off the board. Hyde has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Indian Creek got a big performance out of Hunter Rusnak, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Ty Householder was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

Indian Creek has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Martins Ferry, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
