Softball Game Preview: Arroyo Knights vs. Mountain View Vikings

Arroyo is 9-1 against Mountain View since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Knights will be playing at home against the Vikings at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Arroyo was able to grind out a solid win over El Monte, taking the game 5-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Emily Rubalcava made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ruby Morales, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

Meanwhile, Mountain View beat Rosemead 8-4 on Wednesday. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Mountain View pushed their record up to 8-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Arroyo, their win bumped their record up to 12-9-1.

Arroyo came out on top in a nail-biter against Mountain View when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
