Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Academy Crusaders vs. Rock Academy Warriors

For the second straight game, St. Joseph Academy will face off against Rock Academy. The Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Warriors at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: St. Joseph Academy has struggled recently with four defeats in a row, while Rock Academy will arrive with seven straight victories.

On Monday, St. Joseph Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Rock Academy and fell 6-5.

For Rock Academy's part, Max Gimbel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Gimbel has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Quentin Uhland, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ethan Daldo, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Rock Academy pushed their record up to 17-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.
