Basketball Recap: Lawrence County Red Devils vs. Mae Jemison Jaguars
The Lawrence County Red Devils were the 50-44 winner over the Mae Jemison Jaguars when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Lawrence County was outmatched by the Jaguars on the road and fell 58-31. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Lawrence County lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaala Hawkins, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Graham, who scored four points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Lawrence County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Mae Jemison, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12.
