Basketball Recap: Olathe West's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It's playoff time, and Olathe West had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Olathe Northwest Ravens 43-40. The 43-point effort marked the Owls' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Several Ravens players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Popik, who posted 12 points and eight boards. That's the most rebounds Popik has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Jj Lee, who scored eight points and seven boards.

Olathe West moved to 12-9 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Olathe Northwest, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-6.

Looking ahead, Olathe West will face off against Mill Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olathe West has insisted on making their last three contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. Olathe Northwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
