Recap: Pantego Christian Panthers vs. Grace Prep Lions
The Pantego Christian Panthers suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 67-32 loss at the hands of Grace Prep. While losing is never fun, Pantego Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1043rd, while Grace Prep is ranked 339th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Grace Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zaria Howard, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sophie Jordan, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Pantego Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Grace Prep, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pantego Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on St. Paul's Prep at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Grace Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Fort Worth Country Day at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
