Baseball Recap: Bowsher Drops Season-High Score on Woodward

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bowsher). They blew past the Woodward Polar Bears 29-0 on Thursday. The BlueRacers have beaten the Polar Bears the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Polar Bears has come to flipping the script.

Donovan McClellan made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McClellan was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Roy McCrandall, who fired off nine RBI, three triples, and four runs while going 5-for-5. He has become a key player for Bowsher: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kyle Schropp, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one double.

Bowsher was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .778. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in five consecutive contests.

Bowsher's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Woodward, they are on a 20-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Looking ahead, Bowsher will look to defend their home field on Friday against Emmanuel Christian at 5:00 p.m. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.8 runs per game on average), something the BlueRacers will no doubt try to take advantage of. Woodward does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
