Softball Recap: Nelson County's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Nelson County got themselves on the board against Bardstown on Monday, but Bardstown never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Aubrey Robbins made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nora Kate Simpson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jorja Bartley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Nelson County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bardstown only posted an OBP of .000.

Nelson County's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 21-8-1. As for Bardstown, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

As of now, neither Nelson County nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
