Basketball Recap: Wando Comes Up Short

Wando was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Goose Creek Gators and fell 71-34. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Gators are ranked 11th).

Despite the loss, Wando still got an impressive performance from Corbin Martens, who posted ten points. That's the most points Martens has posted since back in November of 2024. Owen Schafer was another key player, putting up five points.

Wando's loss dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Goose Creek, they pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Wando will take on Lucy Beckham at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Goose Creek, they will host Stratford at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
