Preview: Lewis-Palmer Rangers vs. Discovery Canyon Thunder

Lewis-Palmer is 9-1 against Discovery Canyon since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Lewis-Palmer Rangers will head out on the road to square off against the Discovery Canyon Thunder at 6:00 p.m. Lewis-Palmer knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Discovery Canyon likes a good challenge.

Even though Lutheran scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, Lewis-Palmer still came out on top. Lewis-Palmer managed a 60-56 win over Lutheran.

The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Cohen Edmondson and Braydon Jacob. Edmondson had a solid game and scored 16 points. Meanwhile, Jacob did his best for the losing side, scoring 16 points.

Meanwhile, Discovery Canyon was able to grind out a solid victory over Cheyenne Mountain on Thursday, taking the game 61-49. Given Discovery Canyon's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Cheyenne Mountain is ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Discovery Canyon found their leader in underclassman Hugh Tarpenning, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Aiden Hayler, who scored 11 points along with two steals.

Lewis-Palmer has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Discovery Canyon, their win bumped their record up to 15-6.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Lewis-Palmer hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 65.4 points per game. However, it's not like Discovery Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 56.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Lewis-Palmer came up short against Discovery Canyon in their previous matchup back in January, falling 66-55. Can Lewis-Palmer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
