Basketball Recap: Ben Carroll's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fort Yukon over Nunamiut

Fort Yukon lost against Nunamiut last Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Fort Yukon Eagles fell 57-50 to the Nunamiut Amaguq. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Fort Yukon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Carroll, who posted 23 points. Carroll's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Marsten Capelli, who earned 16 points.

Tyler Hugo continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Nunamiut, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 19 boards. Hugo is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last nine games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexander Galloso, who scored 12 points along with five boards and five steals.

Fort Yukon now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Nunamiut, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-2.

Fort Yukon will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Tok on February 6th. Fort Yukon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season. Nunamiut has already played their next contest, a 56-46 victory against Non Varsity Opponent on the 23rd.
