Softball Recap: Addison Trail Comes Up Short

Addison Trail dropped down to 4-12 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Leyden Eagles, falling 11-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Blazers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Addison Trail saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Francesca Galione, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

As for Leyden, they now have a winning record of 7-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by nine runs or more this season.

On Leyden's side, Elise Bertsche was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. Bertsche was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Kat Macleod was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Ava Jamrozek, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Addison Trail will head out to face off against Hinsdale South at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Leyden, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rolling Meadows at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
