Preview: Balboa School vs. Victory Rock Prep
Balboa School will head out on the road to challenge Victory Rock Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Balboa School's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
Balboa School scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mitchell 99-47 at home. With Balboa School ahead 79-31 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Balboa School relied on the efforts of Kendall Connor, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds, and Vito Albanese, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Albanese has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamaal Phatty, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Victory Rock Prep, who are still winless after their eighth match. They fell just short of Bilingual Christian Academy & Tech by a score of 68-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Balboa School's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.5 points per game. As for Victory Rock Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Balboa School didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Victory Rock Prep in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with a 66-62 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Balboa School since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
