Basketball Recap: Travis Donaldson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pershing County over West Wendover

Pershing County lost against West Wendover back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pershing County Mustangs lost to the West Wendover Wolverines on the road by a 64-46 margin. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Pershing County lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Travis Donaldson, who posted 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amare Rosas, who had 12 points.

West Wendover's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Estaban Correa, who went 8 for 12 on his way to 20 points along with six assists and four steals. Correa is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Adryan Carlos, who went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Pershing County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for West Wendover, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.

Pershing County will be playing in front of their home fans against Silver Stage at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pershing County is facing Silver Stage at the right time seeing as Silver Stage is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for West Wendover, they are taking a road trip to face off against Yerington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. West Wendover knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Yerington likes a good challenge.
