Baseball Recap: Galatia/Thompsonville's Loss Ends Ten-Game Winning Streak at Home

Galatia/Thompsonville dropped their record down to 15-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell 4-1 to the Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bearcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Galatia/Thompsonville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was AJ Downing, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Zeigler-Royalton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games.

On Zeigler-Royalton's side, they got a great performance from Carson Hobbs as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Hobbs a new career-high.

At the plate, Zeigler-Royalton let Bradden Mays and Connor DeWeerdt run wild. Mays went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while DeWeerdt went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Skropka, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

As of now, neither Galatia/Thompsonville nor Zeigler-Royalton have any future games scheduled.
