Basketball Game Preview: Knightdale Knights vs. Wake Forest Cougars

The Knightdale Knights will challenge the Wake Forest Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Knightdale is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.

Last Friday, everything went Knightdale's way against Apex as Knightdale made off with a 70-47 win. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Cougars are ranked 424th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Knightdale's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Green, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 19 points in addition to six assists and five steals. Green is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 39 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavier Longe, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Green wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Knightdale was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Meanwhile, Wake Forest was beaten by Leesville Road 81-53 on Tuesday. The Cougars have struggled against the Pride recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Knightdale pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Wake Forest, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Knightdale beat Wake Forest 57-46 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Knightdale repeat their success, or does Wake Forest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
