Otay Ranch proved they can win big last Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Clairemont Chieftains 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now won four in a row.

Otay Ranch saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Martinez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Jake Medina also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Otay Ranch's record is now 5-2-1. As for Clairemont, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Looking ahead, Otay Ranch will take on Mission Bay in a tournament on Monday. Mission Bay will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Otay Ranch surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clairemont, they will be taking part in a tournament against West Hills at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
