Addie Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one double.

Western Wayne hit Blue Ridge with a six-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders lost 14-4 to the Wildcats.
Hailey Carpenetti made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Hailey Champang also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Riverside's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Blue Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Blue Ridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Riverside has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for Blue Ridge, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Riverside's sizable advantage in that area, the Raiders will need to find a way to close that gap.
