Cardinal Spellman extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 9-4 in the process. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the St. Joseph-by-the-Sea Vikings a 1-0 shutout. The Pilots were shut out 10-0 the last time they took on the Vikings, so the Pilots were just returning the favor.

As for St. Joseph-by-the-Sea, their loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-2. The matchup marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

For St. Joseph-by-the-Sea's part, John Gano spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Gano has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
