Basketball Game Preview: St. Xavier Tigers vs. Trinity Shamrocks

St. Xavier and Trinity are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The St. Xavier Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Trinity Shamrocks at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. One thing working in St. Xavier's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

St. Xavier is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Kentucky's top teams: Male, who was ranked 25th at the time (St. Xavier was ranked second). St. Xavier breezed by Male to the tune of 96-59 on Friday. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 24 points or more this season.

St. Xavier found their leader in freshman Josh Lindsay, who went 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points. The dominant performance gave Lindsay a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Graham Krezmien, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Trinity, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Sunday. They secured a 75-71 W over Covington Catholic on Friday.

Trinity has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for St. Xavier, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

Everything went St. Xavier's way against Trinity in their previous meeting on Sunday, as St. Xavier made off with a 68-44 win. Will St. Xavier repeat their success, or does Trinity have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
